Peanut ('04 - '06) and Tyke-aged kids are encouraged to practice lacrosse every Monday evening at the Adam Beck Community Centre. Beaches Lacrosse coaches offer basic lacrosse skills between 7- 8 pm every Monday evening. Beaches U19 Win Division II Silver
11/5/2009 9:15:21 PM
The Beaches U19 team followed up last years Division III gold with a Division II silver medal in 2009. On November 1 one U19 semi-final game saw the Toronto Beaches storm out to an 8-1 half-time lead over Mississauga. The teams traded off goals in the second half on way to a 12-5 Beaches victory. During the season Mississauga had dealt Beaches one of its only two defeats making the victory doubly sweet. In the other semi-final Peterborough, 12-0 in the regular season, faced the Oshawa (II) Blue Knights; a young team that just snuck into the DII play-off picture in the final week-end of the season. The Blue Knights did the virtually unthinkable and edged out a thrilling 7-6 victory over the heavily favoured Lakers. In the championship match Beaches ran up a 5-3 first quarter lead. Oshawa clawed their way back to a 6-6 half-time tie then a 9-8 lead going into the fourth. Beaches tied it up but gave up a couple more goals. Not done, the Beaches offence generated more opportunities but finished with a couple of shots off the post with game ending 11-9 for Oshawa.
