NEW in 2008 Girls Fall Field House League

The 2008 girls house league field lacrosse program plans to expand to include girls from ages 6-14 inclusive
divided into 3 age divisions: 6-8, 9-11, and 12-14.  Beginners are welcome and no experience is necessary!

Our goal in 2008 is to increase participation so we have two or more teams in each division, and to build a
foundation for girls interested in higher level competitive play. Players in 9-11, and 12-14 division will have
a 45-minute practice followed by a 45-minute game (Players in 6-8 division will have 30 minute practice &
30-minute game).  The spring season will start the first week of May and conclude at the end of June.

For those new to the game, girls field lacrosse is an incidental contact sport like basketball or soccer,
played at quick pace. The ball is passed up and down the field with the use of a lacrosse stick that differs
from a box lacrosse stick in that it has no pocket. The objective is to score on your opponent and to keep
them from scoring on your net.

The field size and rules will be modified to accommodate the skill development needs of the younger player.
The only equipment required—other than for goal keepers—is a stick, mouth guard and turf running shoes or cleats.

We will need parent volunteers to help operate our league on an as-needed basis and to learn more about the
game as we grow. Please let us know how you can help.

Toronto Beaches Field Lacrosse Program

As with All-Star box teams, the Field lacrosse teams are selected based on skills.  Because there is
no field lacrosse “Club League”, we will try to provide all players who want to play field an opportunity
to be on a team and have an opportunity to learn the game.  If the number of players warrant, and
we have coaches, we will add teams.

Field Fees are due at registration.  By making field fees payable at registration, we should have a better
sense as to the number of players. We are required to submit the number of teams by March 15th and
it is very difficult to know the number of teams unless players have committed. Any players who have paid
the registration fee but are not selected for a team will have their registration fees refunded.

Beaches Lacrosse would like to try and have a few field clinics prior to the start of the season to introduce
more players to the field game. Anyone interested in helping put this together please send an email to the VP Field.

Practice schedules are set by coaching staff, but are usually limited to one or two per week as a result of weather,
lack of suitable fields in our area at that time of year and conflicting box lacrosse games and practices.

The field lacrosse season is short but intense. The season starts late April and ends in late May with all games
on weekends. Each team plays two or three games on one of the week-end days. One weekend is the
Provincial Tournament Qualifiers; the final weekend of the season is the Provincial Championships.

Referees

If you are interested in refereeing field lacrosse click Referee Clinics for details.
Referees must be 14 years of age or older; games are out of town.

For more information contact John Dixon (Referee-in-Chief).
