Toronto Beaches Girls in the News

The Beaches Senior women’s team won the Silver medal in A division for the 2017 season.  The ladies defeated Brampton and Six Nations to play in the gold medal Provincial game against an undefeated Orangeville team.

The Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute Womens Field Lacrosse team finished first in the TDSSAA Championships giving them the honour of representing the City of Toronto at the 2017 Trillium Cup OFSAA Provincial Lacrosse Championship. The team was team lead by Toronto Beaches Girls Lacrosse Rep players Amy Nicoloff, Bryanna Phillips, Grace Wilson, Heather McDougall, Jessica Litowsky, Lily Sedore and Reilly Hunter.

The team went 2-0 in round robin play taking Heart Lake SS (Brampton) 14-5 and came back  from a 4-1 deficit to eek out a 10-9 win over a powerful Brooklin HS team to finish 1st in pool D.

They fought hard for a 8-6 quarterfinal victory over Maxwell Heights SS (Oshawa) in wet and muddy conditions to advance to a Bronze Medal berth against number 1 ranked Patrick Fogarty CSS (Orillia).

The Bronze Medal game was played in typhoon like conditions, making for treacherous field conditions and poor visibility. The BPCI team battled to 6-3 deficit at half time against a much older and highly skilled Orillia team however the skill and power of the Orillia team proved too much for the BPCI girls to overcome losing 13-4 in the end. The 4th place finish was the best placing at OFSAA in the 9 year history of BPCI Girls Lacrosse.
